The 15.6-inch 4K HDR touch monitor InnoView is a great accessory for performance and entertainment on your desktop and mobile devices. It checks almost all the boxes for performance and usefulness.

Using portable screens is often more difficult than convenience, especially when traveling. They also don’t usually respond to the pleasure of playing games and watching movies as secondary screens, unless the tablet or computer monitor is pressed into place.

However, the 10-point touch technology and metal construction of this portable IPS LCD screen leaves very little to be desired, no matter which mobile or desktop hardware is connected.

It is made of a board of first-class aluminum alloy, built-in dual stereo speakers, adjustable metal stand and 4K touch screen, which provides a 16: 9 aspect ratio. The portable screen offers 500 nits of brightness and clarity with a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels.

Overall, this model provides the best performance I’ve found from both larger and smaller portable monitors. Unlike many portable screens I tested, this one came with only one USB-C cable connected to the host device.

No need to plug into a separate cable brings new meaning to mobility for portable monitors.

Light but heavy regimen

Until my practical experience with this 15.6-inch monitor weighing two kilograms, I generally avoided lower-end portable screens. They are usually a little more than a computer accessory to bear when you’re on the go. Limited functionality and weaker visual displays make them literally the ultimate measure of business and home office performance as second monitors.

This is not the case with this InnoView model. Of course, this device is not a budget device or a mid-range device. Still, it’s worth the higher price for the performance it provides.

InnoView’s PM004 is solidly built and modern looking, with rounded thin frames on three sides in a space gray aluminum frame. The color looks gray on the back panel, but mostly the black hue of the lower quadrant of the frame goes well with the black screen when not on.

The display is sharp and brilliant with excellent resolution, which has a 178-degree full viewing angle. Video performance has no lag and has eye-pleasing contrast. Performance is consistently impressive, whether you’re playing games, consuming videos, or engaging streaming content.

The item measures 13.98 x 8.86 x 0.43 inches. Comes with an attractive padded case.

No special drivers required. Outside the box, this model works without changes to the configuration of the host computer or laptop. Comes with cables to connect to most devices. They include two USB Type-C to USB Type-C cables, one Mini HDMI to HDMI cable and one On-the-Go (OTG) cable with a 30-watt wall outlet adapter.

The monitor is compatible with computers, laptops with Windows, Macintosh and Linux, as well as with Chromebooks, most smartphones and various Android tablets. It also works well with PS3, PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch, as well as other gaming devices.

Side view

The compact design of the PM004 arranges enough ports for connectivity and control on both the left and right sides of the bottom of the monitor, where a thicker base holds the device’s hardware components. The ports are located in the concave area behind the frame.

At the bottom of this base are dual speakers. They are one of the few disappointing aspects of this otherwise exemplary portable monitor. The sound lacks a lot in the way of dividing the main or stereo sound. Their lower position somewhat muffles the volume when the monitor is not held or placed on a desk.

On the left side are three USB Type-C ports for plugging in the power adapter (if needed) and cables for connecting to a host computer, game console, tablet or smartphone. On the right side are the on / off button, Mini HDMI port and mini headphone port.

Press the power switch to turn the portable monitor on / off. The power button serves as an access point for on-screen function controls.

The on-screen controls are touch-based, which makes it easy to adjust settings. Slide the power switch down to launch the control panel on the touch screen.

High performance elements

G + FF technology (cover glass, plus dual film sensor) supports a more precise and sensitive touch for both fingertips and the stylus. Adobe RGB’s wide color gamut covers a wider range to see more color detail, gives full play of photos in RAW format and gives photographers more space for post-production.

The 10-bit capacity with high color depth compared to the 8-bit represents up to 1.07 billion colors, which can provide a more natural and smooth color transition. This monitor also supports hardware color calibration.

This portable monitor works well to reflect or expand the main monitor for everything you create, watch or play with its 4K-UHD screen capabilities.

When connected to a mobile phone or laptop, the portable monitor senses orientation and automatically switches the display to landscape or portrait mode, depending on the position of the product. This feature improves work and play efficiency when using the monitor as a handheld device, placing it on a flat surface, or tilting it with the adjustable stand.

Overall, the true plug-and-play functionality of the dual USB Type-C ports allows you to use this monitor with just one USB-C cable. This brings you better video streaming and a great viewing experience when sharing a screen, editing images and videos, watching a movie or playing games.

Practical impressions

InnoView has rated high with its PM004 portable monitor. It is a seamless companion for expanding the screen area with mobile phones, laptops and small screen tablets.

Honestly, its ease of use and functionality surprised me. This portable monitor easily doubles its usefulness as a fairly capable second monitor for my desktop workstation.

Why? Its 4K clear resolution and 15.6 ″ look allow me to allocate my viewing space when creating content and doing graphic editing. Even watching streaming content is much more enjoyable thanks to the bright colors and the stellar display on the screen.

Another performance advantage

Usually the second monitors – portable or full-size desktops – will only show the contents of a window slid to it. You do not have access to menus or other startups because there are no desktop items on the secondary display on the panel bar. Not so with PM004.

The InnoView 4K touch screen can replicate the desktop view available on the main display. Including, as shown here, the docking station and icons in Chrome OS, which are fully functional.

InnoView 15.6" 4K portable monitor

This functionality also exists with another portable InnoView monitor that I tested recently. But this functionality does not exist on Windows and Linux computers. I haven’t tested this on a Mac.

This is an ideal feature if you’re using a Chromebook. It allows you to control your computer from any display, allowing greater performance as if you were using two computers in one.

Where to buy

The InnoView PMO04 portable 15.6-inch touchscreen monitor is available at manufacturer’s website and in Amazon. Published prices currently range from $ 599.99 to $ 669.99.
