Americans are making plans for summer vacation and looking for places to stay. One of the most popular websites to use is Airbnb, with about 70 million searches per month. But even with many homes available, it can be a challenge to find the right place.

As summer approaches, the company unveiled its most extensive website redesign in a decade, introducing new guest search and protection features. According to Airbnb travel report42% of guests traveled to coastal areas last summer.

This burdens many hosts and guests if they can’t find exactly what they are looking for, with guests choosing to stay longer in one place when they find a suitable home. Apart from location, the two biggest concerns for travelers to the United States are reasonable prices and safety during their stay.

These aspects have played a crucial role in developing the new features available in the United States today and launching them worldwide next week. So, if you’re planning a trip this summer via Airbnb, here are the upgrades you’ll see:

A new way to search

The previous search method did not allow many customizations or options. There were some options to include in your search, but a significant update now includes Airbnb Categories.

Like explained by the company, you will see 56 categories that organize homes by style, location or proximity to attractions. When you search for a city, the results are organized into categories suitable for that city.

More than 4 million homes worldwide fall into 56 categories collected from machine learning through titles, written descriptions and structured host data. By showing you unique or interesting places to stay, Airbnb says it will “help alleviate over-tourism by redistributing travel to new places outside the same popular destinations”.

Divide your stay

If you want to explore a new city but don’t want to be limited to one location or geographic area, Split stay is a great option. When you are looking for homes and stay more than a week, Airbnb will offer other homes to split your time.

For example, if you are looking for a home in New York for 14 days, Split Stays can show you an available home for the first seven days and a different home available for the last seven days. You can then book both seats through an easy-to-use web page.

AirCover

Many people will be traveling this summer for the first time in two years. Airbnb has created a security system to ensure that guests remain safe. AirCover is divided into four parts:

  • A reservation protection guarantee where Airbnb will find you a similar or better home if the host cancels within 30 days of check-in. Alternatively, you will receive a refund.
  • If you can’t register at home and the host doesn’t fix the problem, Airbnb Accommodation guarantee will find you a similar or better home.
  • If the home is not as advertised, you will have three days to report it. Then, under Get a guarantee for what you have bookedAirbnb will find you another place to stay.
  • IN 24-hour security line Gives you priority access to specially trained security agents, day or night.
