The Airtel Payments Bank smartwatch was launched in India on Tuesday (March 19). This marks the telecom operator’s entry into the smartwatch segment and becomes the first device launched by it. The smartwatch was developed in collaboration with wearable brand Noise and payment technology provider Mastercard. The key proposition of the Airtel smartwatch is that it is NFC enabled and allows users to make ‘Tap and Pay’ contactless payments up to Rs. 25,000 per day.

Airtel Payments Bank Smart Watch is priced at Rs. 2,999. Available in black, blue and gray. However, the smartwatch can only be purchased by those who are current Airtel Payments Bank members. A bank account can be created digitally, but is required before ordering the wearable. The Airtel Watch is now available for sale and can be purchased immediately. It can only be purchased through the Airtel Thanks app. Not available for purchase on any other e-commerce platform or offline retailers.
Airtel Payments Bank Smartwatch Specs, Features
Airtel’s first smartwatch features an NFC chip that enables the device to make contactless payments through Airtel Payments Bank. The device can be activated by linking to the savings bank account through the Thank you app.
Once connected, users can instantly start making payments by tapping the watch on point-of-sale (POS) machines that come with tap-to-pay functionality. Users will be able to make payments up to Rs. 25,000 every day through the device. The technology provider for the smartwatch is Mastercard, which supports the NFC chip on its network.
The Airtel smartwatch is designed and built by Noise, according to the press release. It features a 1.85-inch square TFT display with 550 nits of brightness and offers 150 cloud-based dials. The health and fitness features of the Airtel watch include a stress monitor and an SpO2 sensor. It supports Bluetooth calls and has IP68 certification for dust and water resistance. The company claims that the smartwatch’s battery can last up to 10 days.
