Alpha HPA receives a grant of up to $ 15.5 million from the Ministry of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources to increase the production of high-purity alumina.
Alpha HPA Limited (Alpha) has received notification from the UK Ministry of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources that its CMAI Grant Initiative has been approved for up to $ 15.5 million to expand and accelerate aluminum trioxide production with high purity.
CMAI grants are separate and distinct from those successfully approved with $ 45 million under the Modern Production Initiative Cooperation Flow (MMI-C), as announced on March 16, 2022, where funding for the grant will be focused first on the capital requirements of the HPA full-scale commercial building of the project.
A $ 15.5 million CMAI grant will be used to expand and accelerate the production capacity of the Precursor Production Facility (PPF).
Accelerate the production of high purity aluminum trioxide
Alpha Managing Director Rimas Kairatis commented: “Alpha is pleased to receive additional financial and commercial support for the first HPA project from the Australian Federal Government. These additional tools will allow Alpha to accelerate its response to incoming demand for additional volumes of products, in particular the production of HPA tablets, to meet the immediate demand for sapphire glass production, and to quickly establish Alpha HPA in the supply chain at trade volumes.
The funds will be used to facilitate additional capacity of up to 10 tonnes per year for high-purity aluminum trioxide (HPA) production and high-purity boehmite production.
This CMAI grant will be specifically targeted at:
- Further expand the production capacity of PPF of high-purity aluminum precursors;
- Facilitate up to 10tpa additional capacity for high purity alumina (HPA) production;
- Facilitate up to 10tpa additional capacity for boomite production with high purity;
- Facilitate the addition of tableting capacity for the production of HPA sapphire glass growth tablets; and
- Installation of a large solar block on the roof and battery storage capacity.
Alpha will work quickly to finalize a grant agreement with the Ministry of Industry.
Alpha is an Australian-based company that supports the transition from clean energy to decarbonisation technologies through the production of high-purity aluminum trioxide. The company uses their hyper-licensed Smart SX technology to produce sustainable HPA.
The company is fully funded for commercial production in the first phase of PPF, which is scheduled to begin production of high-purity aluminum precursors of the company from the quarter of September 2022.
