Andor, the next Star Wars original series, has a new official trailer. The 12-episode series takes place before the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and follows the journey of Rebel spy Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) as he confronts the Empire to become a “Rebel Hero.” Andor was originally set to premiere on August 31st, but has since been pushed back almost a month. Andor debuts exclusively on Disney+ Hotstar with a three-episode premiere on September 21.

Although Disney did not explain the delay, we can assume that the decision was made to avoid overlapping with the next installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe She-Hulkwhich begins airing on August 17. The Andor the trailer opens with a voiceover from the titular Rebel spy (Diego Luna) as we see the Empire’s regime grow. “To steal from the Empire, you just walk in like you belong,” Andor says as he plans his infiltration of the organization. We’re also given a brief look at his childhood, climbing through cracks – proving his history and how skilled he is.

Meanwhile, Luther Rael (Stellan Skarsgård) tries to talk him out of the dangerous mission, saying, “The Empire is suffocating us so slowly. We begin not to notice. What I’m asking is this, wouldn’t you rather give it all to something real?” The Andor the trailer then includes some quick looks at the real-world locations where the Star Wars series was filmed.

In previous Star Wars projects, such as The Mandalorian, the crew used LED screens to project a virtual backdrop. The technology predates Rogue One, where cinematographer Greig Fraser came up with the idea to avoid weird green screen lighting issues. A similar technique was used for several desert scenes in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune.

In an interview with Empire , host Luna talked about the experience of filming the Star Wars series in real-world locations. “In Pitlochry, Scotland, we had to walk hours up the mountain to make one shot. Huge effort. It’s really dangerous to get there. All you can see around you is sky, trees, rivers, lakes. amazing! It’s like you’re on another planet.”

The Andor The trailer then cuts to a montage of chaos as Saw Gerrera (Forest Whitaker) declares war on the Empire. Mon Mothma (Genevieve O’Reilly) is an Empire senator who secretly tries to help found the Rebel Alliance.

Andor also starring Adria Argiona, Dennis Gough, Kyle Soler and Fiona Shaw. Tony Gilroy (Bourne trilogy) is the creator and showrunner of the Star Wars series, and also executive produces alongside Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy, Sane Wollenberg, Michelle Revan and Luna.

The Star Wars studio also has plans for a second season featuring multiple time jumps as a narrative tool. Production is expected to begin this fall and is expected to have 12 episodes.

Andor premieres September 21 exclusively on Disney+ Hotstar. Disney and Lucasfilm also revealed a new poster for the new Star Wars show, as seen below.
