Arrow Electronics announced that Sean J. Kerins will take over as distributor’s chief executive from June 1st.

He will succeed Michael J. Long, who will become chairman of the company’s board of directors.

Kerins is currently Arrow’s Chief Operating Officer and has held senior management positions in the distributor for almost fifteen years.

Previous roles in the channels include Arrow, president of global corporate computing and 10 years at EMC in sales and professional services.

In a statement, Kerins said he was “honored to lead this company in the future.”

“It’s really been a privilege to work with Mike and Arrow’s talented team for almost 15 years,” he said.

“I look forward to continuing to focus on fostering profitable growth and creating value for our shareholders, suppliers, customers and employees.”

The current CEO, Michael Long, said the change of leadership was the result of a “multi-year process of continuity”.

“I am pleased that Sean has been appointed President and CEO. I am confident in his leadership to steer Arrow into the future, and I look forward to continuing to serve on Arrow’s board of directors. “

Kerins holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Syracuse University and a master’s degree in business administration from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.
