In 2018, Warner Bros. was a huge success when he adapted Kevin Quan’s film Crazy rich Asians for the big screen. And while both sequels, Crazy rich friend and Problems of rich peopleremain in development, Deadline reports that a Crazy rich Asians spinoff film is also in the works.

According to the report, Bari producer and screenwriter Jason Kim signed on to write the untitled Crazy rich Asians spinoff, which will include Gemma Chan and Harry Shum Jr., reprises their respective roles as Astrid Young Theo and Charlie Wu. In the novel and the first film, Charlie and Astrid were young and in love before Astrid’s parents forced her to end the relationship. But by the end of the film, Astrid and Charlie had found their way back to each other.

Deadline also noted that “Kim came in with dynamite terrain for the story of the birds in love and Warner Bros. fainted for it. “

Spinoff may include material from Chinese rich friendas Astrid and Charlie’s relationship is also explored in this novel, but the main focus of this story is the original strong couple, Rachel Chu (Constance Wu) and Nick Young (Henry Golding). The ongoing novel finds Rachel and Nick on an unexpected trip to Shanghai to find her birth father.

The untitled Crazy rich Asians the spinoff will be produced by John Chu, as well as the producers of the original film: Nina Jacobson, Brad Simpson and John Penotti. Warner Bros. have not yet found a director or have officially started casting outside of the two lead roles. Given the early state of development of the project, it may take some time to reach the cinemas.
