Bondloc’s range of safer products has grown in popularity among engineering and manufacturing facilities seeking more responsible chemicals in support of the environmental and occupational health agenda, which in turn reduces COSHH assessment requirements.
This prompted Bondloc to invest in and expand its safer product range to include low, medium and high-strength thread clips, WRAS-approved pipe sealant, torque gasket, flexible gasket and high-strength fastener.
Green productivity
Greener anaerobic counterparts essentially work with the same anaerobic curing process, as it cures in the absence of air and in contact with metal ions. While standard versions can be classified as skin irritants or corrosive, the new range of “white labels” is not.
Warren Wilkinson, co-doctor of medicine at Bondloc, says: “To develop products with a white label, we are reviewing the basic wording; the structure of the resin, the monomer system and see what gives it strength, temperature resistance and what controls the viscosity. Then we consider replacing the components with a less dangerous alternative.
“In terms of visual, performance and hardening, white label formulations are expected to work in the same way as the current system. It is still the same anaerobic system. We also decided to keep the WL range price points the same as their predecessors to encourage more consumers to switch to a more sustainable product.
