With its latest InfiniteFocusG6 measuring system, Bruker Alicona continues to lead in the field of optical metrology. The optical measuring technology provider continues its successful concept of combining roughness measurements with coordinate measuring technology, introducing a new measuring instrument that features its unique measuring performance, technological mix for the future, revolutionary user experience and maximum flexibility.

Bruker Alicona described the latest development of their InfiniteFocus product line, the new tools, saying “Measurements are faster, measurement planning is more intuitive and the range of measurable components is wider.”

With this, the optical metrology provider once again demonstrates its innovative strength. General Manager Christian Janko states: “In recent years, our development has focused on areas such as usability, 5-axis metrology and productivity in manufacturing metrology. This know-how is the basis for the latest generation of our InfiniteFocus measuring systems. ”

Shape and roughness with just one optical sensor

InfiniteFocusG6 is an accurate, fast and versatile optical 3D meter for tolerances in the range µm and below µm. Components are measured by measuring the surface based on area, with high resolution and regardless of the size, material, geometry, weight and surface coverage. Proven functions, combined with new functions, provide the functionality of a roughness measuring machine (Ra, Rq, Rz / Sa, Sq, Sz) with the characteristics of a coordinate measuring machine.

New key features include MetMaX user software, which allows users to pre-plan their measurements on a CAD model of a detail and the selected positions are then automatically measured in 3D. In addition, a digital twin combined with a virtual measurement simulation allows the system to operate safely. Another key element is the optional 3 to 5 axis extension, where high-precision tilting and rotating axes allow measurement of the shape and roughness of the entire component – with just one measurement step. Also included is the integration of Bruker Alicona’s latest technology, Vertical Focus Probing, which allows users to explore components sideways with a non-contact sensor. This allows the measurement of challenging geometries such as holes and vertical sides (> 90 °), optically measurable and allows completely new applications. Also included is SmartFlash, which allows measurements on smooth, highly polished surfaces, and Real3D, which turns individual measurements into a complete set of 360 ° data.

Like all Bruker Alicona meters, the new InfiniteFocus system is based on the focusing method. The robust technology of the tool together with its vibration-insulated design are the basis for use in production. Users achieve high-resolution, repeatable and traceable results with InfiniteFocus even directly to a machine tool.
