To mark the availability of the new A Series, ADAM Audio and Sonarworks have revealed details of their collaboration on studio monitors, successors to the award-winning AX Series. The ADAM Audio A series delivers extremely accurate, transparent sound across a range of monitors.

The line also boasts numerous sound and room adaptation options that can be controlled remotely and in real-time via A Control, a free-to-download software application from ADAM Audio (available for Windows and MacOS). The control also facilitates the series’ long-awaited feature, delivered in collaboration with calibration experts Sonarworks. Through A Control, users can upload and store SoundID Reference calibration profiles directly into the DSP of A Series monitors without the need to launch the SoundID Reference application or additional DAW plug-in.

Technology and benefits
Each A-Series monitor contains a built-in speaker DSP platform that can host calibration profiles created in SoundID Reference. This powerful software measures the acoustics of your space and generates a unique calibration to help counteract problem frequencies and resonances. Typically, this calibration profile requires a VST or the SoundID Reference application to run, which adds to CPU usage and latency. The A-Series integration eliminates CPU usage and significantly reduces latency by storing calibration profiles directly in the speakers’ DSP. Once transferred to the speaker, you can continue to benefit from SoundID Reference calibration without the need for software or network cables — a great example of the set-it-and-forget-it philosophy.

Extended 60-day trial period
To help as many people as possible experience this new technology, ADAM Audio and Sonarworks are happy to share details of an extended 60-day trial of SoundID Reference for Series A customers. A trial license is available for Series A customers, who register their speakers in the MyADAM area of the website. It offers the full functionality of SoundID Reference, including the ability to export calibration profiles so that they can be imported into A Control and transferred to the loudspeaker DSP. The ADAM Audio team will provide A Series customers with the license via email. It should be noted that a measurement microphone is required to perform the measurements required to create a calibration profile in the SoundID Reference.

ADAM Audio A Control is a key component in this innovative collaboration. Designed in-house by ADAM Audio, the free app provides A-Series customers with an advanced speaker management and equalization system. In addition to making it easy to transfer SoundID Reference calibration profiles to speakers, users can also create their own calibration profiles in 6 bands of parametric equalization, or make changes to the sound and room adaptation settings found on the rear plate. Any changes made to A Control can be heard in real-time from the listening position, allowing users to be confident in their equalizations and switch between uncalibrated and calibrated audio.
