COSEL Co., Ltd. (6905: Tokyo) today announced the addition of a new series of 6W high-insulation DC / DC converters for medical, industrial and ICT applications. Packed in Single In Line (SIP) type 8, the COSEL MH6 series has reinforced insulation of 3kVAC, 4.2kVDC, meets the medical insulation standard (2MOOP (250VAC operating voltage)) and is robust for industrial applications, which may include differential IN / OUT voltage. Three input voltages (4.5V-18V; 9V – 36V and 18V -76V) and a wide variety of single (MHFS6) and dual output (MHFW6) cover a wide range of applications. Designed for performance, the MH6 has only a 20pF maximum insulation capacity, reducing noise transfer. COSEL MH is a unique design of COSEL, made in Japan and covers 5 years warranty.

Designed with high reliability in mind, the COSEL MH6 series has reinforced insulation, withstands 3kVAC and 4.2kVAC insulation test in accordance with safety standards and its transformer designed to withstand differential voltage that can occur in industrial applications. With years of experience designing power supplies for equipment using IGBT drivers, COSEL designers have applied high-power and high-insulation best practice to the 6W low-power MH6 series to reduce insulation fatigue due to differential high voltage. occurs in the control of the engine or IGBT driver. COSEL conducted tests and inspections and provided life expectancy curves in the Application Manual, which help system architects to develop gate controllers for industrial equipment to implement the correct design rules and precautions.

For medical applications, the MH6 series meets the 2xMOOP (250VAC) insulation requirement (operator protection devices) as specified in IEC60601-1 3rd Edition.

To reduce inventory, but also to make their equipment easy to install and maintain, system designers require a DC / DC converter that can accept a wide range of input voltages. The COSEL MH6 series is available in three voltages with a wide input range: 4.5V to 18V, covering applications of 12V batteries, 9V to 36V, combining 12V and 24V battery systems and 18V to 76V to address 24V and 48V systems. The MH6 series is available in five single outputs 3.3V, 5V, 9V, 12V, 15V (MHFS6) and two dual outputs +/- 12V and +/- 15V (MHFW6). The output can be used in series, supplying 24V or 30V. The single MHFS6 output voltage can be adjusted using the Vout Trim pin on the secondary side.

The MH6 series has a built-in overcurrent protection circuit with automatic recovery. A remote control pin (L: ON, H: OFF) is available as standard.

The MH6 series can operate in the temperature range from -40 to + 85C environment, 20 – 95% RH (no condensation). Depending on the cooling, a power reduction can be applied so that it does not exceed + 105C at a certain measuring point.

To reduce transfer noise, COSEL designers have reduced the insulation capacity to the lowest possible level, reaching a maximum of 20 pF, which is a great advantage when powering engine management systems.

Industrial and in some cases medical equipment may be subject to vibration, resulting in possible damage to the pins of SIP products. The COSEL MH6 series pins are molded in an epoxy holder, strengthening the connections between the application PCB and the module, making the device even more reliable when used in difficult applications. The MH6 series is qualified for vibration testing: 10 – 55Hz 98.0m / s2 (10G), period of 3 minutes, 60 minutes each on the X, Y and Z axes and impact: 490.3m / s2 (50G) 11ms, once on X , Y and Z axis.

Targeting both medical and industrial applications, the MH6 series has received agency approvals: UL62368-1, EN62368-1, c-UL (CAN / CSA-C22.2 No.62368-1 equivalent), ANSI / AAMI ES60601 -1, EN60601-1 3rd, c-UL (equivalent to CAN / CSA-C22.2 No.60601-1).

To reduce the space on the user’s board, the MH6 series is housed in a SIP8 package measuring 26.0X12.0X9.5mm [1.03X0.48X0.38 inches] (SHVHG) and weighing 8 grams maximum.

The power supply is in accordance with the RoHS directive and has the CE mark in accordance with the Low Voltage Directive.
