Apple has improved the Safari browser in beta by adding some new features when using tab groups. One of these options is the ability to select websites from your bookmarks so that they appear as favorites on the home page of each new tab you open in a specific group of tabs. Here’s how it goes.

If you’re not familiar with tab groups, they provide a convenient method to quickly store and manage similar tabs, such as those used when shopping or planning a trip. Apple introduced the functionality in iOS 15. See our dedicated instructions page for further details.

You must first have some websites in your favorites and make at least one tab group before adding favorites to specific tab groups. You can then perform these actions.

  1. By tapping the center of the tab bar at the bottom of the screen and selecting its name in the Safari tab browser, verify that your tab group is active.
  2. Then tap the plus symbol (+) to start a new tab with a home page by tapping it in the lower left corner.
  3. On the home page, go to the bottom and select Edit.
  4. Turn on the option next to Tab Group Favorites before closing the Customize Start Page menu by tapping the X in the upper right corner.
  5. To add a favorite group of tabs, press the plus (+) in the area at the top of the home page.
  6. By tapping a website from your bookmarks list, you can add a favorite.
  7. To add additional Favorites, repeat steps 5 and 6.

That is all. Every time you open a new tab in your tab group, your favorite tab groups will appear on the home page.
