After a long wait, the biggest mobile show of the year happened in the form of the Mobile World Congress 2024 (MWC 2024). The show brought a wide range of new Android smartphones, unique gadgets, AI and much more. Even Google took the opportunity to release new Android and Gemini (AI) features. In this article, we will discuss some of the most interesting products that appeared during Mobile World Congress. These products range from Android smartphones to interesting solutions in the field of technology. There are also new interesting wearables and other products that managed to steal our attention during the last days of February.

The best of MWC 2024

In this article, we will discuss the best products revealed during MWC 2024. You might have noticed devices that look more interesting to you. So feel free to share your thoughts with us. Without further ado, let’s dive into the most interesting technologies.

Honor Magic 6 Pro – Honor’s new flagship with innovative battery technology

Honor headlined one of the biggest events at the Mobile World Congress 2024. The Chinese smartphone maker unveiled an interesting set of new announcements during MWC 2024. The Honor Magic6 Pro was the big star of the show as the company’s new flagship that will compete in a global market. However, the company also took the opportunity to tease a new Porsche Design variant for its new flagship. Additionally, it brought the Honor Magic V2 RSR to the global markets.

The Honor Magic6 Pro is a solid flagship ready to compete in global markets like Europe. Like most flagships, the phone is equipped with the excellent Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 with up to 16 GB of RAM. The phone is equipped with a 6.8-inch LTPO OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and 2800 x 1280 pixels resolution. The panel is covered with Jurhino Glass and has 1600 nits of brightness and 5000 nits of peak brightness.

Honor launched its new MagicOS 8 based on Android 14, brought a set of Generative AI technologies. Thanks to its robust hardware, the Honor Magic6 Pro is packed with a host of AI features. The device also has a robust camera. It has a 50 MP OIS camera, a 180 MP periscope telephoto camera with 2.5x optical zoom and a 50 MP ultra-wide camera. A 50 MP camera handles selfies and video calls with a ToF 3D depth sensor.

Honor Magic6 Pro has Wi-Fi 7, stereo speakers and Bluetooth 5.3. One of its biggest highlights, however, was the second generation of Honor’s silicon-carbon battery. It replaces the ordinary graphite anode in lithium-ion batteries with one made of silicon carbon. This allows the company to pack more power into the same physical space, which allows for an impressive 5,600 mAh battery. The phone also features 80W fast charging. It is quite difficult to extract the full power of this smartphone.

Lenovo ThinkBook transparent display laptop concept

MWC usually serves as a good place to unveil strange technologies. In this particular area, Lenovo did a great job of introducing an interesting product for MWC 2024. The device in question was a laptop called the Lenovo ThinkBook Transparent Display Laptop Concept. It’s an interesting product concept, and if you’ve seen cyberpunk movies in recent years, you’ll probably see it as the arrival of a new era of transparent displays. While having a transparent display doesn’t make it any more useful than a regular product, it’s hard to deny that it doesn’t look pretty cool.

The display is great showing the operating system and also everything on the other side. The problems are in the design choices taken by Lenovo. For example, Lenovo decided to equip it with a touchscreen keyboard instead of a physical keyboard, making it look like a dual-screen device.

We still don’t know if there is much use for such a laptop. Depending on where you’re using, this transparency of the display can become very inconvenient. Perhaps the final product could have a way to adjust the transparency to remove it completely when you need a more immersive experience. That is, of course, if this product becomes a thing. For now, this is just a concept and only time will tell if Lenovo will turn it into a commercial product. It looks more interesting than the flexible display on the Motorola wristwatch.

Nubia Flip 5G – Flip smartphones are getting affordable

Foldable smartphones are great and all, but they are difficult for the masses with their usually expensive price. We’ve been waiting for the day when foldable smartphones finally make it to the mid-range segment. Last year, Motorola introduced the $700 Motorola Razr with a flip design. Nubia is now taking an important step to make these devices more attractive to mid-range users.

Nubia Flip 5G arrives at MWC 2024 as a mid-range foldable smartphone. It carries Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1. The device has a 6.9-inch foldable display and a 4310 mAh battery. That’s a decent battery considering the design challenges of a flip smartphone. It’s also lightweight with a larger 1.43-inch OLED external display that’s limited to calendar and selfie-taking widgets.

Nubia Flip 5G

The Nubia Flip 5G has a 50 MP PDAF primary camera and a 2 MP depth sensor. Nubia has cut corners on the camera as there is no ultra-wide shooter in this smartphone. By the way, there is a 16 MP selfie shooter in the internal display.

The phone has stereo speakers. Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, NFC and a 4310 mAh battery with 33W fast charging. The Nubia Flip 5G costs $600, which is a remarkable price for a device in this category.

OnePlus Watch 2 – Dual chipset design does wonders for battery life

OnePlus is looking to compete with the biggies in the wearables segment. The Chinese brand has introduced an interesting smartwatch to the market in the form of the OnePlus Watch 2. The OnePlus Watch 2 is the company’s first to run on WearOS. But it also carries the RTOS, which is the company’s native solution. It is an interesting dual OS wearable that uses the best of both OS to offer a unique user experience. The device has access to tons of apps on the Google Play Store. It includes heavy hitters like Google Maps and Spotify.

MWC 2024

The device also uses a dual-chipset architecture to ensure battery life. This was common for popular simpler fitness trackers or watches like Garmin. It’s the first Wear OS watch to last more than four days on a single charge with an always-on display.

Gizchina News of the week

Samsung Galaxy Ring – the rise of a new wearable category?

Samsung introduced an interesting product called the Samsung Galaxy Ring during the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S24 in January. At Mobile World Congress 2024, Samsung shared more key details and properly unveiled the new wearable.

As much as this award is for Samsung, we’re also very excited to have such a big name join the burgeoning fitness category. Smart rings aren’t particularly new, but we haven’t seen a brand like Samsung launch into this category yet. It’s the result of intensive work fitting fitness and sleep tracking technology into a device that wraps around the finger.

The Galaxy Ring is sleeker and lighter than the competition. Samsung will sell it in three colors: gold, silver and black. It’s not clear when exactly you’ll be able to buy the Galaxy Ring, nor do we know how much the gadget will cost.

Tecno Pocket GO and AR Pocket Vision

Tecno unveiled an interesting device at MWC 2024 called Tecno’s Pocket Go. It combines an AR headset with a PC built into a controller for a unique gaming experience. The device is unlike anything Tecno has introduced in recent months. Now the company is diving into the AR segment with Pocket Go. Instead of trying to subvert an existing product, the new headphones combine two core ideas into an interesting device.

MWC 2024

The Pocket Go is powered by AMD’s Ryzen 8840HS processor paired with a Ryzen 780M graphics card, which should be powerful enough to play relatively recent AAA games at low or even medium graphics settings without breaking a sweat. The display built into the glasses sounds small. There are two 0.71-inch micro OLED screens, but they can project the equivalent of a 215-inch display.

Xiaomi 14 Ultra

MWC 2024

The Xiaomi 14 Ultra is the latest flagship smartphone, but it’s not the most innovative. It repeats the hardware of last year’s Xiaomi 13 Ultra with some interesting advantages. For example, it has the newer Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and an all-new 1-inch LYT-900 sensor with variable aperture. Xiaomi 14 Ultra claims to be the best camera phone on the market in 2024. The device has a quad curved display that provides great aesthetics and usability with a comfortable hand feel. It was one of the spotlights at MWC 2024.

Motorola Flexible Display or Smartphone WristWatch

Motorola is seriously trying to be different with this one. Motorola’s Adaptive Display concept showcases a smartphone that can become almost anything you need it to be. Interestingly, the device was presented as something of a wristwatch smartphone. Want to use it as a smartphone? You can. Want to use it as a smartwatch? To be able. The device features a 6.9-inch Full HD+ pOLED display. It’s a promising product, but at the same time it seems like a gimmick. This is not a foldable or foldable phone. It can just bend. The technology certainly looks interesting and we expect to see something in the future coming out of this concept. It was certainly an interesting product revealed at MWC 2024.

Humane AI Pin

The Humane AI Pin is an interesting multi-modal AI embodied in an interesting smart device that you can pin on your shirt. And we finally got to see the technology during MWC 2024.

You can combine voice control with the visual user interface of a downright futuristic laser ink display that projects onto your hand. You can control the Humane AI Pin for a focused set of features that feel like an absolute breeze, and I could see myself making conversations and enriching my everyday life with this device.

In my opinion, Humane AI Pin will not replace your smartphone. The company presents the product as this, but this is unlikely to replace smartphones. It’s just a great accessory that can extend the experience.

Conclusion

This year’s MWC brought an array of interesting products. From the most advanced smartphones to unique and relatively new concepts. We are excited to see these products become a reality in the coming year.
