In this way, the flux specialist pursues a product strategy that ensures the perfect product for any application, as Emil Otto has already applied in the electronics and metal chemistry industries.

“It makes sense for us to further expand the product range of solar streams, because we want to offer our customers products that are exactly tailored to the application, just as in the electronics industry,” says Marcus Gessner, Marketing and Sales Manager at Emil Otto GmbH. For example, the newly developed EO-S-008 is similar in design to the EO-S-002, but belongs to the special fluxes, as it is designed for low melting applications. In addition, EO-S-008 can also be used for normal PV applications.

In addition, additional fluxes with different solids content have been developed, such as alcohol-based fluxes EO-S-009 and EO-S-010. The solids content here is 1.8 and 1.5%, respectively. “Due to the reduced solids content, the already very good behavior of the residues can be noticeably improved again, with very good soldering results. EO-S-010 also contains a very low and completely new resin complex. Gessner continues. But also alcohol-water hybrid streams are new in the portfolio, such as fluxes EO-S-011 and EO-S-012. Both fluxes have 2% solids and very low resin content. “EO-S-011 has an alcohol content of 60%, EO-S-012 even only 15%, which means that it is not a hazardous material at all. Therefore, these flows also reduce transport costs as well as the effort required for storage and handling within the production. “ Gessner explains. The alcohol components are formulated in such a way that despite the reduced alcohol content, the fluxes are optimized for drying. Due to the reduced alcohol content, both streams are very stable in price and are largely separated from the constantly rising prices of alcohol. As usual, the results of soldering and the behavior of the residue are very good.

However, a new stream stands out, Gessner said. “We are particularly proud of EO-S-013. The alcohol-based flux with a solids content of 2.0% is characterized by a special synthetic resin complex. The acid value is unusually low at 5.0 – 7.0. Therefore, the flux leaves almost no residue, with extremely good soldering results. “ In addition, EO-S-013 is characterized by exceptional temperature stability.

All solar streams from Emil Otto are designed for soldering solar modules, tabernacle and stringer material, as well as for connecting cells. In addition, the products are NO-CLEAN fluxes, which are formulated without halogen. All fluxes do not leave sticky residue. Process tests with well-known machine builders in the stringer technology sector prove this. In addition, the activators are specially designed for the high temperatures required in the production of solar modules, without affecting the efficiency of the activators.
