Four best-selling Samsung Galaxy phones reach end of support

Although Samsung is known for its frequent software updates, some older models have unfortunately reached the end of their support life. This means they will no longer receive new versions of the Android operating system or critical security patches.

This news comes alongside Samsung’s recent commitment to provide seven years of updates for its latest flagship devices, the Galaxy S24 series. Like the Google Pixel 8 and 8 Pro, users of these phones can expect consistent software and security support for a significant period of time. However, this extended support timeframe does not apply to older models.

Four specific devices were recently removed from Samsung’s official website update the listwhich means the end of their software support:

• Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite. Launched in January 2020, this phone serves as a more affordable version of the flagship Galaxy S10 series.
• Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Lite. Also launched in January 2020, this phone offers a lighter take on the premium Galaxy Note 10 with the signature S Pen stylus.
• Samsung Galaxy A71: Launched in January 2020, this mid-range phone stood out for its large display and versatile camera system.
• Samsung Galaxy A02: Launched in January 2021, this budget phone offers basic functionality at an affordable price.

It’s important to note that while these phones are no longer eligible for full software updates, there’s little chance the company will issue a one-time patch in the future to address a critical security vulnerability. However, such cases are unusual and should not be relied upon.

Two variants in this group, the Samsung Galaxy A71 5G and the Galaxy A02s, are still receiving security patches. However, it is not clear how long this support will last.

Users of these affected models are advised to consider upgrading to a newer device. To take advantage of the latest features, security enhancements, and performance improvements.
