“With global chip shortages and continuing geopolitical concerns, GlobalWafers is using this opportunity to address the sustainability of the semiconductor supply chain in the United States by building an advanced node, a state-of-the-art 300mm silicon wafer factory.” said the CEO. Doris Hsu said: “Instead of importing waffles from Asia, GlobalWafers USA (GWA) will produce and supply waffles locally.

“This investment will be the first new silicon wafer plant in the United States in more than two decades and will close a critical gap in the semiconductor supply chain,” GlobalWafers said in a statement.
