The leading digital solutions platform Globe has been recognized by the independent mobile analytics company Opensignal as a global rising star for the third consecutive year in 2022. Awards for the global mobile network experience* report. It features five categories: 4G availability, video experience, voice app experience, download speed experience and upload speed experience.

Globe joined the top 30 operators in the world, which received the status of Opensignal 2022 Global Rising Star, as “made rapid progress in improving the experience of its users in a short period of time.”

Between the second half of 2020 and the same period of 2021, the Globe reported an improvement of 6.6% in 4G availability compared to the global average of 0.7%.

Globe’s Video Experience results jumped 17.4%, above the global average of 3.5%. It also recorded an increase of 8.6% in the Voice App Experience, better than the 1% global average.

Similarly, the company raised its download and upload speeds by 51.3% and 36.5%, respectively, compared to the global average of 28% for downloads and 20.9% for uploads.

Although the country’s ranking based on Internet speed has improved significantly, we will continue to focus on the overall quality of the experience using our network. We intend to further enrich our clients’ digital experience with basic life services such as education, healthcare and fintech, ”said Ernest Ku, President and CEO of Globe.

In 2021, Globe upgraded and expanded 22,300 mobile sites to 4G LTE, built over 2,000 5G sites and embedded solutions, built 1,407 new 4G LTE cellular sites and installed 1.4 million optical lines to the home.

This year, the Globe has allocated P89 billion for its capital expenditures to build new cell towers, upgrade existing sites to 4G LTE, accelerate 5G deployments and increase Fiberization of Philippine homes across the country.
