Google’s latest Pixel device is the Pixel 7 series, which has two handsets, the Pixel 7 and the Pixel 7 Pro. These devices are doing quite well in the mobile phone market so the company is making them better. According to a new development, Google has provided repair guides for the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro. However, this repair guide is only available for French users. The Google support article “Learn more about the Pixel repair guide” is now geo-restricted to users in France. If you try to view it from other parts of the world, you will get the message “Sorry, this page cannot be found”. This was not the case last July.
Users can use the Pixel repair guide to try to fix the issues they are having with their phone and get it fixed. The guide provides step-by-step instructions on how to “repair a damaged Pixel phone with original parts; disassemble your Pixel phone and reassemble it; removal and replacement of parts; extend the life of your phone and protect the environment.”
However, if you try to repair the device yourself, there is always a safety risk of damaging the device. Therefore, Google recommends that only technical professionals attempt to repair this device. Sfrom 2021, France will require mobile phone brands (and other devices such as laptops and TVs) to provide a repairability index. It’s a rating out of 10 that brands give themselves as a percentage, with one criterion for mobile phones.
