This is an excellent opportunity to shop around if you’re looking for more Android-friendly alternatives to Apple AirPods. Amazon sells Google Pixel Buds Pro for $150 as part of the Black Friday sale — a full $50 discount, which represents the best price we’ve seen yet for true wireless headphones. Savings apply regardless of color, so you can get a style that matches your phone or fashion sense.
We’ll be honest: these are the best-sounding Pixel Buds yet. In addition to better bass than other models, they add active noise cancellation (ANC) to help block out the outside world. These are the Google headphones you want if you have a noisy commute to work or the office, or you just want to hear more detail in your favorite songs. The seven-hour battery will get you through most of a typical workday, and automatic switching between Android devices helps if you also have a tablet.
There are limitations. While the Pixel Buds Pro work with iPhones and other non-Android devices, you’ll lose functionality like automatic device switching (there’s still multipoint connectivity). We were also not thrilled with the call quality and the transparency mode. However, if you spend more time listening to music than chatting with friends, these headphones are an easy choice.
