The future of work is undoubtedly hybrid, with employees dividing their time between home and office – if they enter the office at all.
To address these changes, HP has introduced a number of new versions aimed at those looking for a more flexible way to work, and TechRadar Pro was invited to see what the company has to offer.
HP is perhaps best known for its computing devices, and in a luxury London restaurant decorated to reflect the hybrid work theme, the company had a selection of new business laptops aimed at both corporate and creative users.
Transient (and remaining) hybrid
This includes the new HP Envy 16, the company’s first 16-inch Envy model aimed at both concert performers and artists. Inside, there is a choice between a 12th generation Intel Core i5, i7 or i9 processor, as well as 16GB or 32GB of RAM and up to 2TB of internal memory.
To keep in touch with whatever work devices you need, the Envy 16 has a huge range of ports, including two Thunderbolt 4s, two USB-A, SD cards, HDMI 2.1 and a headphone jack, providing just about anything you may need it during the working day, with Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2 also included.
There’s also a 17.3-inch Envy case that HP says can act as a desktop replacement, with a 16: 9 aspect ratio, making it ideal for a variety of applications. Both new offerings come with the new HP Palette, designed for creators, with tools for fast wireless image sharing, face matching technology and Duet, a tool that allows users to connect a secondary device to expand your workspace. , for example when drawing or modeling.
The company has also launched two new mobile workstations, the HP ZBook Studio G9 and the HP ZBook Power G9, aimed primarily at creators and artists, but just as useful in a number of industries.
The first offers options for processors up to an Intel Core i9 vPro processor, with options for NVIDIA RTX A5500 or GeForce RTX 3080 Ti and up to 64GB of RAM and 4TB storage to help with image or video heavy workloads.
At a more affordable price, the ZBook Power G9 (pictured below) offers a 15.6-inch display, Intel Core i9 vPro processor, 64GB RAM and 8TB storage, along with a 720p HD webcam and multiple USB and Thunderbolt connection ports.
Also new is the Z2 mini G9 workstation, which seems to replace the traditional computer tower for creative people and small businesses. Combining a significant amount of power and connectivity into a compact 8.3 x 8.6 x 2.7-inch design that should fit anywhere around your home or office, HP says it has even been used in some data centers. -cheap alternative to storage and server.
The mini workstation can support up to eight displays and has options for USB, DP, HDMI, VGA and Thunderbolt ports, which can be customized to your liking, all protected by HP Wolf Pro Security.
Finally, video calling has become a part of everyday life for many of us, and HP wants to make the experience a little more bearable with its Presence platform, which works with its Control and Control Plus devices to act as a standalone hub for your meetings.
Users interact through a 6- or 8-inch touch screen, which gives full control over every aspect of the meeting, from the attendance list to adjusting the volume and light levels. Control can be doubled with the company’s See 4K AI-Camera (pictured above), a stand-alone (and stand-alone) device that can automatically adjust lighting levels and framing to ensure you get a crystal clear view.
Working with both Microsoft Teams and Zoom, Control and Control Plus are re-installed to fit into any office space and can even be quickly interrupted if you need to move elsewhere for an impromptu meeting.
So with the hybrid work here to stay, it seems that some companies will finally make sure that we all have the kit we need to get the job done efficiently.
