The Humane AI Pin was recently unveiled at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024 in its first public viewing since launching in November 2023 exclusively in the US. The artificial intelligence (AI)-powered device, with a unique form factor and no display, quickly attracted global attention. And while other markets are waiting for the device to launch, a new report suggests that the AI Pin may soon debut in India. Humane is the brainchild of Apple co-founders and former employees Imran Chaudhry and his wife Bethany Bongiorno.

In an an interview with Times Now Tech, Chaudhri, president and chairman, Humane revealed the startup’s plans to eventually bring the AI Pin to India. He said: “We are really impressed with the demand. We see the most interest in the device in India. We’re trying to figure out how to get into India and make sure we’re culturally appropriate in terms of the kinds of things Indian customers want from their services.”

According to the report, the husband-wife duo will also spend some time in the country to better understand user behavior and pain points to further improve the AI Pin before introducing it in India. For now, the startup is focused on shipping the first batch of devices to customers in the US. It will begin shipping pre-ordered units in March, and the first AI Pin is expected to ship in April 2024.

It is powered by an unnamed Snapdragon chipset for the device’s AI capabilities, coupled with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of inbuilt storage. The device’s AI engine is OpenAI’s GPT-4. In terms of connectivity, it comes with support for 4G (eSIM), dual-band Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.1 and GPS.

AI Pin is capable of a diverse set of functions. It can draft and send emails, messages and posts with spoken prompts, recommend songs and playlists, answer queries, search the web, summarize texts and even share information about an object in front of the user, such as a car or a restaurant.
