IKEA Gurugram’s purchasing office will move to Bengaluru from May 2023

Swedish furniture retailer Ikea has moved its purchasing office, which supplies products to its global supply chain from India, from Gurugram to Bengaluru on May 1, 2023. Ikea, which opened its fourth store in India earlier this week, wants the purchasing office to be close to other entities, the company said in a statement.

“With the expansion of business development, our prospects in India are positive and we want to be close to other IKEA companies (such as retail, Global Business Operations) and many customers. To take advantage of this opportunity, we are relocating our Gurgaon office in Bangalore from May 1, 2023, ”it said.

The company provides relocation support to its employees who choose to relocate to Bengaluru under the “relocation policy”. “If a colleague decides not to move to Bangalore, we will do our best to support him in finding job opportunities at IKEA, such as IKEA for retail in India or other IKEA units outside India. It will follow the recruitment process and relocation support in accordance with the relocation policy.

“If a colleague cannot find a job at IKEA, we will support with external job training from our career transition service provider,” it said.

Ikea has been sourcing products for its global supply chain from India since the 1970s.

The Swedish furniture retailer supplies from industries including textiles, carpets, mattresses, home accessories, plastic and metal products.

IKEA India (part of the Ingka Group) previously announced that it will launch its first store in Bengaluru on June 22. The large-format store is connected to Nagasandra metro station, the statement said. IKEA India also announced Ange Heim as market manager for the Karnataka market.

Spread over 12.2 acres, the 4,600,000-square-foot IKEA Nagasandra store claims to have more than 7,000 or more affordable, high-quality, sustainable and well-designed IKEA home furnishings, the statement said.
