After a series of leaks and rumors, Vivo has officially announced the S17 series in China. The range consists of three new devices: Vivo S17, S17t and S17 Pro. The first two are almost identical in most areas except for the chipsets. We will talk about this in a separate story. In this article, we will take you through the specifications and features of the Vivo S17 Pro.
Vivo S17 Pro Overview:
Design and display
At first glance, the Vivo S17 Pro doesn’t look that different from its predecessor, the Vivo S16 Pro. However, there is little change in design compared to its predecessor. The third camera is slightly smaller this time. And surprisingly, the device doesn’t come with the company’s signature feature, a color-changing back.
But it’s now available in a new blue color that mimics the sea and the stars. According to Vivo, this variant features the industry’s first ‘particle ink’ technology, which combines classic painting with modern technology to create a unique aesthetic. Additionally, you can get it in two other shades namely Ice White Jade and Black. The front and back of the phone are still made of curved glass. The S17 Pro is also quite thin and thick measuring just 7.46mm and weighing 188g.
The Vivo S17 Pro has a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2800 x 1260 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate. The display has a high contrast ratio of 8,000,000:1 and can reach a peak brightness of 1300 nits. It also supports 2160Hz PWM dimming for a more comfortable viewing experience. On top of that, the smartphone also has a hardware low blue filter that can reduce harmful light by up to 6.5%.

Also, the smartphone power supply is a MediaTek Dimensity 8200 SoC. The chipset has an octa-core configuration with one Cortex-A78 (@3.1 GHz), three Cortex-A78 (@3.0 GHz) and four Cortex-A55 (2.0 GHz). For example, the Vivo S16 Pro also has the same chipset.
Gizchina News of the week
Vivo has paired it with up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. As for the software, it boots OriginOS 3.0 based on Android 13.
Cameras
At the back, the smartphone sports a triple camera setup. The main sensor is a 50MP Sony IMX766V lens, which is paired with an 8MP Sony IMX355 ultrawide module. These two lenses are similar to the Vivo S16 Pro. But the company has replaced its predecessor’s useless 2MP macro lens with something useful.
Specifically, the phone comes with a 12MP IMX663 telephoto shooter that lets you take 2x portrait shots. These cameras are paired with a simple two-tone LED flashlight and soft light. Similarly, for selfies, the Vivo S17 Pro comes with a 50MP Samsung JN1 sensor. The camera supports autofocus and is paired with two LED flagships on either side.
Connectivity and battery
The Vivo S17 Pro has various connectivity options including dual SIM, 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, GNSS, NFC and USB 2.0 (Type-C). It also has an in-screen fingerprint sensor for biometric authentication. The phone is powered by a 4600mAh battery with support for 80W fast charging. According to Vivo, the smartphone can be charged up to 70% in just 30 minutes.
