It’s time to reevaluate car event recorders

What is the future architecture for event data recording (EDR) and vehicle data recording? This document reviews an architecture suitable for current EDRs, next-generation EDRs that accommodate selected data from ADAS systems and “new” data logging systems for processing additional datasets in emerging regulations and standards. These systems will record details of the overall condition of the vehicle, the performance of all automated systems, interactions between systems and drivers / passengers, and more.
