Apple today released its iOS 16 beta 5 to developers for testing purposes. Through the latest beta updates, Apple introduced small but significant changes to its iOS operating system.

The latest iOS 16 update is the fifth developer beta of Apple’s operating system, set before its release this fall. Of course, a public beta will follow soon in the coming days. However, this update comes with the assumption that there are no catastrophic bugs in the developer-only beta.

Here are the latest changes introduced by Apple in the latest iOS 16 beta 5 updates:

Battery health in iOS 16 beta 5

  1. Status bar battery percentage:

You can currently see the exact battery percentage in the battery icon in the status bar. This feature can be turned on in the Battery section of the Settings app.

  1. Battery indicator 2

First of all, Battery Level is available on the iPhone and iPhone 13 models. However, you won’t find the feature on the 5.4-inch iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 13. Additionally, the feature is also available on the iPhone X and iPhone XS, but it’s not available for iPhone 11 and iPhone XR.

For years, battery percentage has not been available on iPhones with a notch due to space limitations. However, the latest update welcomes a change for many iPhone users. Previously, users could check the exact battery percentage by swiping into the Control Center or by using the battery widget.

Find My Sound and Sound Updates in iOS 16 beta 5

  1. Find my sound

If you use the Play Sound option in the Find My app for one of your devices, iPhone models will have a new sound playing. Although slightly louder, the sound is different from other sounds available with previous versions of iOS 16.

  1. New sound when pinging iPhone from Watch

If you swipe on your Apple Watch to get to Control Center and tap the iPhone icon to ping your iPhone to find it, you’ll hear a new sound. Interestingly, this sound is the same as the new Find My Sound.

Mini previewer and perspective zoom in iOS 16 beta 5

Additionally, the third beta of ‌iOS 16‌ added a full-screen music player, and the fifth beta introduced a live mini-viewer.

  1. Prospective increase

Additionally, Apple has removed the lock screen wallpapers and replaced them with the new Perspective Zoom feature. In addition to this, Apple also removed the switch to disable it. It could certainly be added back in a future beta as this is a feature that has been available on the iPhone for some time.

  1. Music app

Apple has slightly changed where the Dolby Atmos and Lossless indicators appear. The info is now right next to the genre instead of under the Play and Shuffle buttons.

  1. Screenshots

When you take a screenshot, edit it, and then tap Done, there’s a new option to “Copy and Delete” the screenshot instead of just deleting it.

  1. Emergency call

Finally, when you press and hold the side button or tap quickly to get to the emergency screen, you’ll see “Emergency SOS” instead of “Emergency Call”.
