Maxim and Analog Devices Inc.’s two miniature converters, the MAX20402 / MAX20403 ICs, are designed with high-side and low-side switches. The pair delivers up to 2.5 A and 3.5 A respectively and does so over a wide input voltage range from 3 V to 36 V. Voltage quality can be monitored by monitoring the PGOOD signal. Both ICs are fail-safe, operating at 99% duty cycle, making them ideal for automotive and industrial applications

The MAX20402/MAX20403 are externally programmable or have internally fixed output voltages from 5V to 3.3V. Fixed internal frequency options of 3MHz/2.1MHz/400kHz are available. This allows for small external components and also ensures no AM interference and reduced output ripple.

When SYNC is low, the MAX20402/MAX20403 automatically enter skip mode under light loads. Then at idle an ultra low quiescent current of 10µA. To help improve anti-EMI performance, a pin-selectable forced PWM mode is available. The devices are designed to minimize radiated EMI emissions through a spread spectrum frequency modulation option when testing a modulation frequency.

Both MAX20402/MAX20403 models are available in 3 mm x 3 mm FC2QFN packages and use only a sparse number of external components.
