Motorola is preparing to introduce a new smartphone Motorola Edge 50 Pro. The device will be launched in India via Flipkart on April 3. The leaks have intensified over the past few days as the company continues to push teasers online. While some rumors have suggested that the phone will come with the recently released Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, new evidence is coming to bury those optimistic rumours. Motorola Edge 50 Pro will be a toned down flagship with Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3.
Motorola Edge 50 Pro is equipped with Snapdragon 7 Gen 3
Edge 50 Pro appear on the Geekbench website with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3. While this is still a solid chipset compared to regular mid-range processors, it is miles below the newly released Snapdragon 8s Gen 3. This also means that the Motorola Edge 50 Pro won the None to compete with other flagships with Snapdragon 8 chips. The phone achieved a single score of 1097 and a multi-core score of 3114 cores.
Gizchina News of the week
One interesting fact is that Motorola is teasing the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 in China, perhaps for the Motorola X50 Ultra. Now, with the new Geekbench benchmark, we can dismiss the Motorola Edge 50 Pro as a rebranded X50 Ultra.
The Edge 50 Pro appeared in the benchmark with 12 GB of RAM. We assume that this is only one of the possible configurations. There was also Android 14, but that’s hardly a surprise at this stage. Through the smartphone’s microsite, Motorola has confirmed that it has a 6.7-inch 1.5K pOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate. The panel is “Pantone validated” with 2000 nits of peak brightness. It has a built-in fingerprint scanner and a 50 MP primary rear camera.
In terms of design, the Edge 50 Pro is a slim smartphone with curved edges. The device has a flat display and a center-aligned punch-hole camera. It will be sold in three different color options: black, purple and white. The latter has a vegan leather cover.
