More than any genre, Netflix is teeming with quality fantasy shows. There are also many good things. In fact, there are so many good things that it’s hard to figure out where to start!
Here’s where we I think you should start.
If you are looking for fantasy movieshead here.
Our favorite fantasy shows on Netflix
Netflix
When I first heard that Henry Cavill had been chosen as Geralt on the TV show The Witcher, based on a novel that had become a very popular video game, I thought, “This can’t be good.”
Then I watched the first episode and thought, “This is not good. “
But then, in the end, was the show somehow good? Then it became a phenomenon. Now this is one of the most popular shows on Netflix.

Netflix
Arcane is so good.
Based on the characters and knowledge of League of Legends, Arcane is just an absolutely beautiful animated show about family, trauma and the impact of poverty. Just an amazingly good show to watch.

Okay, I’ll put Supernatural on the list.
Follow the supernatural-looking Winchester brothers as you hunt all sorts of ghosts and goblins, demons, ghosts and monsters.
Get ready – there are 15 ridiculous seasons of this show available on Netflix.

Netflix
Shadow and Bone (2021—)
Shadow and Bone is based on a series of fantasy novels for young adults written by Lee Bardugo. There is a feeling that this show was not quite a lot as good as some might have hoped, but no quite a lot they become mass, as some expect. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t check it out.

Netflix
As a Scotsman, I am grateful to Outlander and resentful of him.
This made Scottish men cool again, but it also gave people ridiculously high, unfair expectations of us. We can’t hope to compete with Sam Huang, who plays the main character Jamie Fraser. Ridiculous.
Outlander is a strange time travel show in which the protagonist Claire travels back in time from World War II to Scotland in 1743. This is definitely nonsense about romance novels, but it is self-conscious nonsense about romance novels. It is designed for drinking.

Nickelodeon
Avatar: The Last Airbender (2005-2008)
Avatar: The Last Airbender should be one of the best animated shows sometime. Aang is the titular last Airbender, a type of messiah who can control the four basic elements: air, fire, water and earth.
But even trying to describe what makes Avatar so charming, smart, and surprisingly heavy is pointless. Just do yourself a favor and watch it.

Netflix
The Umbrella Academy is part of a series of older superhero themed shows that came out a few years ago. He takes himself a little more seriously than The Boys, which came out on Prime Video, but is still a very captivating watch.
It also has some of the best needle-dropping moments on any Netflix show. Climb up.

The Dark Crystal: The Age of Resistance (2019)
Based on the cult classic from 1982, The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance was pretty good for practicing bait for nostalgia. Unfortunately, the cost of production prompted Netflix to cancel it before we got a second season. Doesn’t mean you can’t check first.

Netflix
Okay, let’s do this one more time …
I can’t believe I have three TV shows based on video games in this list! But again Castlevania is a lot good. A dark fantasy show based on the video game of the same name, Castlevania is super popular, captivating and spectacularly well animated. Give it a try, even if you’ve never heard of the game.

BBC
A BBC television show based on Arthur legends, Merlin adds Doctor Who’s aesthetics to the fantasy genre.
It’s certainly a bit outdated, but Merlin has cult followers thanks to some fantastic performances. Just don’t expect production values at the Game of Thrones level.

Gonzalo Jimenez / CNET
The Freezing Adventures of Sabrina (2018-2020)
Based on the sitcom for older children “Sabrina, the teenage witch”, “Sabrina’s Freezing Adventures” rediscovers itself as a dark drama focused on the occult. It works wonders.
Get ready for a weird ending, but this show works.

Netflix
Hellbound is a grim fantasy show about supernatural beings who drag people to hell. If you’ve just finished Squid Game and you’re longing for more Korean TV, look no further. These rules.

Netflix
Sweet Tooth is a fantasy drama based on the comic book of the same name. After a pandemic – stay with me here – hybrid babies are born, half human, half animal.
As might be expected, a rift arises. Some people are unable to cope with the emergence of this new hybrid and blame them for the pandemic. The show has been renewed for a second season, so now is a good time to catch up.

Netflix
We officially named it the second best show on Netflix. Is it a fantasy show? Something like. There are definitely some weird fantastic elements and – nonetheless – it’s worth the time. The story focuses on Prairie Johnson, a woman who returns home after disappearing for years. The twist: she used to be blind, now she can see.
Everything that comes from this strange twist is getting weirder. Definitely try.

Nickelodeon
The Legend of Bark (2012-2014)
I can’t put Avatar on the list without adding The Legend of Korra.
Set in the same universe, years after the events of the original Avatar, The Legend of Korra is a far older version of the show, dealing with surprisingly mature themes. It is dramatically underestimated. Be careful.

Weekly jump Shonen
Can I get away with adding anime to this list? I’m sorry, I do.
Probably, if you are a fan of the anime, you are already watching Demon Slayer or at least you are aware of its existence. At the moment, this is probably the most popular anime on the planet. Demon Slayer is essentially a show about a man who kills demons. The twist: His sister is also partly a demon and they travel together. It is beautifully animated and the battle scenes are ballistic.

Funimation
Attack against Titan (2013-2022)
Since we’re doing anime now, we might as well do Attack on Titan.
Attack on Titan is an anime that takes place in a vaguely medieval universe, where human beings are constantly at risk from humanoid “titans” the size of a skyscraper that people eat.
This is absolute madness. You should watch it.

Netflix
The Dragon Prince (2018—)
Prince Dragon is often favorably compared to another legendary show on this list – Avatar.
That’s about as high a rating as you can get for an animated fantasy show.
Movies coming in 2022 from Marvel, Netflix, DC and others
