of Berlin Devetopashat has raised €5 million in a seed round aimed at expanding the size of the team, further developing its technology stack and onboarding new solution partners. As of May 2021, Ninetailed has raised €6.6 million.
The circle is led by Mosaic Ventures and Cherry Ventures and sees participation from existing investors First Momentum Ventures and including angel investors Carsten Thomas (co-founder of hybris (acquired by SAP)), Chris Schagen (former Contentful CMO), Jason Cottrell (CEO of Orium) and Mirko Novakovic (co-founder and CEO of Instana) and undisclosed others.
In a keyword-laden statement, Ninetailed’s CEO Andy Kaiser explained the company’s raison d’être, “Setting up with customization and experimentation should be easy. We democratize customization and empower teams to build and deliver customization and experimentation themselves without long integration times into their composable stack and first-party data. Developers and creators get the full power of lightning-fast customization and experimentation through super-flexible APIs, SDKs, and connections.”
Let’s break this down, shall we?
Web commerce has come a long way since the heady days of one-click shopping. From AI-driven recommendation engines to set-it-and-forget web-based storefronts, it’s (relatively) easier than ever to run a business online. That is, until you want/need to scale. Suddenly, the one-size-fits-all solutions that worked for you yesterday aren’t even close to cutting tomorrow’s mustard.
If you’re active in this space, or at least paying attention, the terms headless trading and composable trading are aliases you’ve no doubt come across over the course of so many days. I’ll spare you the definitions, but in (very big) words they can be described quite simply: faster, better, stronger.
Where ninetails comes into play is through their experience layer of composable MACH (Microservices, API-first, Cloud-native and Headless) architecture that allows anyone in an organization, be it an SME or just S, to customize, test , and optimizing the customer experience. Think A/B testing, but on a grand scale. And with the ability to follow, all on the turn of a penny.
This flexibility not only allows businesses a wide range of ‘reverse it, change it, try it, push it, undo it, redo it and send it’ option, it means that even a one-man show can offer users a managed data experience with little or no developer dependency. Speed. On. Execution.
“While technology has changed many aspects of marketing, the explosion of user experience solutions has not been accompanied by parallel advances in further empowering developers to create and manage modern composable architectures,” Kaiser added.
