The Nothing Phone (2a) has been the subject of numerous leaks and teasers in the coming days. The fact is that Nothing’s first mid-range smartphone is highly anticipated. The brand aims to join the competitive field of mid-range smartphones with a device that carries the essence of its flagships in terms of design, software and experience. Nothing Phone (2a) will launch on March 5th, and the leaks aren’t slowing down. Today, thanks to the reliable @OnLeaks and SmartPrix, we have renders of the new phone that shed some light on its design. Unlike previous renders, these may be the actual day and revealed dark gray phone.

Nothing Phone (2a) Specifications and design elements not confirmed

The renders confirm the camera design with a huge circular island consisting of two large holes next to each other. The “Fresh Eyes” design was teased in the announcement of the phone. The renders also reveal a three-part Glyph interface around the camera island. It’s a more streamlined approach compared to Nothing’s flagships. However, the iconic feature will still mark its presence here. There is also a ribbon cable that runs from the top to the bottom of the phone.

Dimensity 7200 Pro

Nothing also confirmed the smartphone that the Nothing Phone (2a) will premiere the Dimensity 7200 Pro chip. The regular Dimensity 7200 carries 2 x ARM Cortex-A715 cores clocked at 2.8 GHz and 6 x ARM Cortex-A510 cores clocked at 2.0 GHz. However, the Pro variant is jointly developed by MediaTek and Nothing. It promises 18% more performance than the Snapdragon 778G. We don’t know exactly how different the Pro variant is from the standard one, but we can expect higher clocks for the performance cores. The phone is also quite efficient thanks to the use of a 4nm manufacturing process. Interestingly, this phone has appeared on Geekbench showing the performance of its Dimensity 7200 Pro.

The phone will also bring NothingOS with its unique features and UI elements. It will be based on Android 14 and will be close to stock Android except for the UI changes already mentioned.

Prices in India

Apart from the specifications, SmartPrix suggests that the phone will start below INR 25,000 in India. This means around 280 euros. The phone won’t be available in the United States, but it will make its way to Europe.

Conclusion

The Nothing (2a) phone will be an affordable option for those looking to join or perhaps support Nothing’s entry into the smartphone market. The brand launched with the Nothing Phone (1) in 2022 with the Snapdragon 778G+. Last year, the company took a bold step into the flagship market with the improved Nothing Phone (2) featuring the flagship Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. Now the company is about to launch its first mid-range smartphone, and the price is pretty decent for a new brand. We are curious to see how successful the smartphone will be.

The phone will be unveiled on March 5 and we expect the company to share more details before the launch day.
