The global semiconductor supplier ROHM, together with Delta Electronics, a world-class power supply manufacturer, have entered into a strategic partnership to develop and mass-produce next-generation GaN (gallium nitride) power supplies.
Combining Delta’s multi-year power supply technology with proven ROHM power supply and manufacturing expertise will make it possible to develop GaN power supplies with a breakdown voltage of 600 V, optimized for a wide range of applications. range of power supply systems.
ROHM has already set up a mass production system for 150V GaN HEMT with a revolutionary enduring 8V port voltage in March 2022. This will allow ROHM to expand its new EcoGaN range for power circuits in IoT communication and industrial equipment (ie. base stations, data centers), while improving the performance of the device.
“ROHM is extremely pleased to enter into a strategic partnership for GaN power supplies with Delta, a world leader in power and heat management. As power semiconductors, a key area of focus for ROHM, play an increasingly important role in achieving a decarbonized society, ROHM will continue to develop advanced devices in a number of areas using Si, SiC and GaN, along with solutions that combine peripheral components. as control ICs that maximize their performance.
Through this partnership, ROHM will mass-produce GaN power supplies that can contribute to the configuration of more efficient power systems, as well as develop GaN IPMs that integrate analog integrated circuits (one of the strengths of ROHM) at an early stage, further expanding our range of easy-to-use products. “
