If selected, the team will jointly deliver the future-ready Independent Maritime Maneuvering Ship (ILMV) to meet the needs of the Australian Army’s complex coastal maneuvers.

The project will be led by Raytheon Australia, while BMT will design the ship and Austal will build ILMV at its Henderson shipyard in Western Australia.

Raytheon Australia Managing Director Michael Ward said: “The Australian ILMV is a resilient and flexible ship that meets [the] The requirements of the army.

“He is stable and capable and ready for the future, with clear growth and opportunities to upgrade to ensure that our solution keeps the army moving, as they respond to an accelerated war.

“The important thing is that we are ready to start work now to meet [the] The Army Timeline and have the experience to work with them to realize the full operational capabilities of the Australian ILMV. “

In 2021, the Australian Government announced that it would invest approximately $ 577.04 million (A $ 800 million) in the Littoral Maneuver – Light, LAND 8710 Phase 1 project to improve the Australian Army’s amphibious capabilities.

The ship to be built under this program will provide the Australian Defense Forces (ADF) with the ability to conduct independent ship-to-shore, coast-to-shore and shore-based operations.

BMT Senior Business Development Manager Trevor Dove said: “We are excited to be able to offer our customized Australian ILMV design, optimizing stability, speed, durability, fuel, stores and accommodation for independent and in-house operations.

“Our Australian ILMV is based on the existing shape of the hull of BMT’s landing craft, mature design in the work for LAND8710-1A. It is ready to be delivered, with growth margins for a future army ready. “
