According to a new leak, Samsung may be preparing to introduce another artificial intelligence (AI)-based feature later this year. A tipster revealed that the company plans to introduce a feature called Video AI with the One UI 6.1.1 update. This could be part of Samsung’s Galaxy AI feature set, which was introduced in January and brought features like Circle to Search, Live Translation, Interpreter and more. Notably, Google and Samsung are collaborating to develop new AI features for the Android ecosystem.
According to X tipster Ice Universe (formerly known as Twitter), the South Korean tech giant is working on a video AI feature that it plans to ship with the One UI 6.1.1 update. The update is believed to be unveiled at the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event, where the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 are expected to be unveiled. While nothing is known about what this new feature will do, the name does drop some hints for speculation.
The key functional innovation of One UI 6.1.1 will be video AI.

The tech giant has added generative AI photo editing features with the Galaxy S24 series that allow users to resize, remove or reposition objects in an image. However, there are no such video editing features yet. Video AI can refer to AI-powered editing tools that can do the same edits as a photo editor, but for videos. Another possibility could be AI text-to-video generation, but this is unlikely as this technology is in a very nascent stage with companies like OpenAI still working on their Sora model.
However, this is just speculation and if such a feature is indeed in the works, details will only be known at the next Galaxy Unpacked event, which is rumored to be held in July. For now, Samsung users with Galaxy AI-enabled smartphones can use features like Circle to Search for quick visual searches, Chat Assist for improvements to typed messages, Note Assist in the Notes app that can summarize, translate and format text, and more others.
Earlier this month, Samsung confirmed that all of its flagship devices from 2022 will get Galaxy AI features with One UI 6.1 from May.
