Sega has announced its latest iteration of its many Sonic titles: a game called Sonic Rumble which will come exclusively for mobile devices. The “multiplayer action game” is reminiscent of Mediatonic’s Autumn boyswhich even offers a version called Sonic Adventure. Both games can accommodate up to 32 players, have mini-games, and are battle royale-style, with only one player remaining victorious. in Sonic Rumbleplayers can also collect rings to get new costumes and accessories.

Sonic Rumble not the first game to compete with Autumn boys. Kitka Games have been released Stumble Guys (big name change there) worldwide in early 2021 and has been a huge success. Like Sega, Kitka was aimed at mobile users – an area Autumn boys avoided.

While Sega doesn’t expect to release Sonic Rumble until winter, you can get in on the action relatively soon. The company is recruiting closed beta testers to try out the game at various time slots between Friday, May 24 and Sunday, May 26. You can sign up here anytime before Sunday, May 19th at 11:59 PM PT, and Sega will email you if they’re selected. Until then, you can take a peek at the game announcement trailer.
