SJVN Ltd purchased a 90 MW floating solar project worth Rs 585 crore in Omkareshwar, c Madhya Pradesh.

“SJVN has purchased a 90 MW floating solar project worth Rs 3.26 / unit on the basis of construction and operation in a tender announced by REWA Ultra Mega Solar Ltd (RUMSL), ”Nand Lal Sharma, Chairman and Managing Director, SJVN said in a statement.

The cost of developing this project will be approximately 585 rupees. After commissioning, the project will generate 219 million units in the first year and 5.158 million units over a 25-year period.

SJVN will develop this project in the country’s largest floating solar park in Omkareshwar in Khandwa County Madhya Pradesh.

The electricity purchase agreement will be signed between RUMSL and SJVN for 25 years. The project is put into operation within 15 months from the date of signing the PPA.

“This is our largest floating solar project, implemented through a tariff-based competitive bidding process. The commissioning of this project is expected to reduce 2 52 737 tonnes of carbon emissions. The SJVN is actively contributing to the transformation of India into a zero-carbon nation by 2070, “Sharma said.

With a total portfolio of 31,000 MW, SJVN already has 19 solar energy projects of about 3.3 GW of power in operation and various stages of development.

These recent additions to new projects are leading the company to update its overall vision for 5,000 MW by 2023, 25,000 MW by 2030 and 50,000 MW of installed capacity by 2040.
