Spotify has just announced a new feature for macOS and Windows devices. It’s called Miniplayer and it’s Available now for both operating systems if you are a Spotify Premium subscriber.
The new Spotify Miniplayer is self-explanatory. The new feature gives you full control over your music and podcasts with minimal intrusion. If you want to quickly skip a song, adjust the volume or change the repeat mode, you no longer need to switch to the Spotify window. You can just use Miniplayer instead. The function works as a floating widget in these operating systems and gives you convenient shortcuts.
Spotify Miniplay arrives to enhance the PC workflow and experience
Spotify Miniplay can transform its shape into a square, rectangle or “sleek bar” as seen above. Supports both music and podcasts. According to Spotify, the new feature offers support for both music and podcasts, the feature “ensures a balanced experience, serving both video and music content equally.” It displays the video podcasts in picture-in-picture mode with controls and you can resize the video player.

If you click on the artist name, song name, or album art, it will take you to the Spotify app. You’ll be able to find the Miniplayer in the bottom right corner of the Spotify desktop app. It is located between the volume and full screen buttons.
The miniplayer floats on top of other apps so it doesn’t interfere with your workflow. Instead of constantly switching between windows to manage Spotify content, you can manage your audio stream through the new mini player. This greatly enhances the app experience beyond the mobile experience.
