Elon Musk and his Space Exploration Technologies Corporation (SpaceX) have set a high bar for every activity they carry out. This also applies to the satellite internet service, namely Starlink. Today we learned that the latter has achieved another exceptional download speed in the United States.

As you know, Starlink is a small satellite internet constellation with low Earth orbit. It aims to provide internet access to everyone, regardless of the area in which they live. Previously, various speed test results showed that Starlink outperformed broadband in most countries. As for the latest test results, it reached 301 Mbps on download. This is one of the fastest internet services in the world. However, there is still room for improvement and it is mainly about latency. In addition, upload speeds still need improvement.

Earlier today, a Reddit user shared the result of an internet speed test. The screenshot published by DullKn1fe shows that Starlink can reach an impressive download speed of 301 Mbps. From the comments we can learn that the consumer lives in rural Wisconsin, located in the northeastern segment of the continental United States.

Unfortunately, as mentioned above, the download speed and latency are not impressive. For example, a user may receive a download speed of 20.5 Mbps and a delay of 78 milliseconds (ms).

Is this Starlink download speed high?

What is more important is not a stable network speed. We mean that in March we learned that the speed of the Internet on Starlink fluctuates. For example, during that month, the highest download speed was 299 Mbps (Grass Valley California). Whereas there were also some disappointing results, 1.23 Mbps.

A study conducted by Ookla for the fourth quarter of last year showed that Starlink has an average download speed in the US of 105 Mbps. Meanwhile, Ookla pointed out that the fastest average download speed was found in Miami State, Florida. The average download speed of the Internet service is 191 Mbps in this area. The slowest was in the District of Columbia, Oregon, reaching 64.95 Mbps.

However, a quarter-quarter comparison shows that the range between the highest and lowest download speeds has increased by 30 Mbps or 30% compared to 100 Mbps for Q3. But the average download speed was only improved by 10%.

PS A German Starlink user said it could reach a download speed of 250 Mbps. At the same time, the upload speed was 30 Mbps. This may sound pretty interesting, but In Mayanother German user said it could reach a shocking download speed of 560 Mbps.
