Google began taking the Android Auto screen off phones after about seven years, according to a report. Back in August last year, Google confirmed that it was shutting down the standalone Android Auto app for phone screens from Android 12 onwards. Earlier this month, a pop-up message appeared for some users, saying that Android Auto for phone screens would soon stop working. Google did not specify a closing date at the time, but reports of its disappearance have now begun to arrive.

According to a report from 9To5Google, which quotes publications on Reddit Google has started shutting down Android Auto for phone screens. The app was released in 2015 and is now ending about seven years later. The report adds that Google Assistant’s driving mode will be a substitute for Android Auto for phone screens. The move is reportedly called an attempt to move users into Google Assistant driving mode.

In August 2021, Google announced in a statement that the technology giant would move users who want a phone experience to Google Assistant driving mode, starting with Android 12. The driving mode, called by Google, is a built-in mobile driving experience.

A recent report says that the Android Auto app for phone screens, which is used to get Android Auto features on older cars, is shutting down. According to the report, a pop-up message has appeared in Android Auto apps for phone screens, saying that the feature will soon stop working. At this time, Google did not provide any details or an exact closing date.

Google recently announced that the company will release a bunch of new features for Android Auto later in 2022. Features may include a new user interface and support for suggested responses based on Google Assistant offerings.
