How to choose a 65-inch TV

A 65-inch TV is the ideal size for most medium and large common rooms, but since it’s not a small purchase, you want to make sure it’s the right size for the room you’re planning to install. Other factors come into play here, the most important of which is the distance to view from the screen (although things like the shape of the room and the accessibility of the installation are also details to think about). If you are not 100% sure of this, see our guide, which covers what size TV to buy for your home before you go on a hunt for offers for 65-inch TVs and rush into a purchase that may be inappropriate.

As this is one of the most popular sizes, you can imagine that the market for 65-inch TV deals is quite wide. Virtually all notable manufacturers, from budget names like TCL and Vizio to manufacturers such as Samsung and LG, offer 65-inch TVs (and often many models that have different features and software), so it’s worth taking the time to think what bells and whistles you want. If you plan to connect a number of input devices directly to the TV, such as media players and game consoles, then make sure the TV you have under your eye has enough ports (probably HDMI in this case) for them to name just one common an example of things you need to think about before you buy.

Do you have a specific software ecosystem that you like or other devices that you can use with a smart TV? If you have Google’s smart home ecosystem, for example, you might consider a kit that comes with Android TV. If you own and use Amazon Echo and Fire devices, then Fire TV may be appropriate. In general, however, you don’t have to worry too much about the user interface when shopping through these 65-inch TVs, unless you already have a strong preference for one. All modern smart TVs are equipped to work with the most popular applications (Netflix, Hulu, Prime Video, Disney +, etc.) so you can enjoy your libraries with content and streaming subscriptions.

You don’t have to limit yourself to 4K TV deals when looking at online sales of 65-inch TVs, even if 3840 x 2160 is the most common resolution for TV panels. The highest resolution you can actually find on a TV today is 8K, which has four times the resolution of 4K (just as 4K has four times the pixel resolution of the previous standard, 1080p). While the most serious home theater and entertainment enthusiasts may be considering spending money on one of these 8K TVs, our advice to most people is to wait at least a few years until prices become reasonable.

If you have little money burning a hole in your wallet and are willing to pay more for some upgrades compared to a standard 4K TV, then instead of 8K TVs, add QLED TV offers and OLED TV offers to your search criteria when shopping through these 65-inch TV sales. Most TVs use standard LED panels, which are illuminated by a backlight placed inside the TV cabinet. QLED (quantum dot LED) enhances this lighting with small light-capturing nanoparticles that capture and amplify light. The result? Brighter, brighter, more accurate and contrasting picture. QLED TVs are more expensive than LED TVs, but cheaper than OLED panels, so they are a good mid-range option.

Unlike LED and QLED displays, OLED (organic LED) TVs use separate particles that light up separately. Instead of the entire screen lit all the time – something that can erase dark colors and artifacts during dark scenes – the OLED panel can turn off parts of the display completely, creating the deepest contrast you’re likely to find on a modern TV. Although OLED models are the most expensive of the three, they are worth watching out for if you are a serious home theater enthusiast looking for deals on 65-inch TVs.
