SANTA ROSA DISTRICT, FL (WKRG) – A Florida prisoner who escaped his release program on May 4 is returning to police custody.

Anthony Barnes was wanted for escape, property damage and criminal mischief. Barnes has escaped a redundancy program in neighboring Escambia County, Santa Rosa County. The Violent Refugees Task Force, the Criminal Detention Team and the SRCSO Drug Division played roles in the capture of Barnes.

Deputies were carrying out an order when they saw him trying to escape from a home on West Lake Road in Milton, Florida. K-9s were able to find Barnes, and he was detained. Barnes is in the Santa Rosa County Jail and has been held without bail.
