According to the report, Microsoft may launch an Xbox streaming device in the next 12 months. The streaming device is said to allow users to access movies, TV services, along with a library of games through the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. The report also says that Microsoft is also working with Samsung to develop an application for streaming Xbox games for TVs of the South Korean company. The news comes days after Microsoft announced that Xbox Cloud Gaming users will now be able to play Fortnite for free on Android, iOS and Windows devices.

Referring to people familiar with the matter, VentureBeat (GamesBeat) reported that the device will probably look like an Amazon Fire TV Stick or a Roku-like washer. In terms of functionality, the device will allow users to access movies and TV services – as we do with Amazon Fire TV Stick, for example – along with their game library via Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

It is also said that Microsoft is working with Samsung to develop an application that is likely to allow users of Samsung smart TVs to provide the same access as the Xbox streaming device. Both are said to debut within the next 12 months.

This move is seen as a way to attract more users to the Xbox ecosystem. It should be noted that Xbox consoles also allow users to download applications such as Netflix, Amazon Prime and others and allow streaming. Microsoft is working hard to attract more casual gamers.

The company, along with Epic Games, recently announced that Xbox Cloud Gaming users will now be able to play Fortnite for free on Android, iOS and Windows devices. The move will also allow users, including computer gamers, to stream Fortnite to Internet browsers on their devices, just like Netflix, regardless of hardware specifications.
