Every year, the Samsung Galaxy S series includes three new phones. Among them, the Plus model usually receives little attention from buyers. In fact, in the Galaxy S23 series, S23 Plus sales accounted for 15% of total unit sales. In comparison, the standard model had 28%, while the Ultra had 57%. But things have changed for the Galaxy S24 Plus this year.
We see a 53% jump in Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus sales. In the first three weeks after launch, it held 21% of total sales. That’s a noticeable change from the 15% on the S23 Plus. This jump in year-on-year sales means the mid-range smartphone is getting more attention than before. Check out the attached graphic below to get a better idea of the jump.
Why are more people buying the Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus?
So what can explain the jump in sales of the Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus? Senior Analyst from Counterpoint studies shed some light on it. According to Minsoo Kong, the improved sales figures are for improved specifications that Samsung is offering at a sweet price.
Kong says the minimum 12GB RAM in the Galaxy S24 Plus offers a smooth Galaxy AI experience. For those wondering, the Galaxy AI is the main selling point of the new series. It offers a host of AI-enhanced features that aim to enhance the user experience. You can learn more about it in this link.
Coming back to the Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus, the starting price of the phone is $1000. By comparison, the S24 Ultra starts at $1,300. With that in perspective, Minsoo Kong says the S24 Plus offers most of what the S24 Ultra brings for $300 off.
Of course, you get some premium features with the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. For example, it has a better camera setup and Gorilla Glass Armor. But, yes, the S24 Plus offers more value than previous Plus models. So it makes sense why it’s becoming more and more popular.
