Vertex received support contract for the UH-1N Twin Huey and MH-139 Gray Wolf helicopters of the United States Air Force (USAF).

The total value of the contract is estimated at about 130 million dollars.

The term of the contract is one year and there are four additional one-year options.

All related work will be carried out at FE Warren Air Force Base (AFB) in Wyoming, AFB Minot in North Dakota and Malmstrom AFB in Montana.

Ed Boeington, CEO and President of Vertex, said: “Vertex will provide [US] Air Force with high quality helicopter support that ensures operational availability.

“We place an uncompromising focus on success in the important mission of the US Air Force Global Strike Command.

As part of the contract, Vertex will provide flight equipment, helicopter engines and other ground support equipment for helicopters operated by USAF’s 582nd Helicopter Group.

The two helicopters, the UH-1N Twin Huey and the MH-139 Gray Wolf, will support Air Force Global Command (AFGSC) missions.

The AFGSC is a Barksdale AFB headquarters in Louisiana. It includes combat forces to conduct US strategic nuclear deterrence and global strike missions.

Helicopters also provide security for AFGSC intercontinental ballistic missiles, bombers and other weapons.

Vertex Aerospace and Defense Services President Richard Caputo said: “Vertex will provide the Air Force with organizational support, which is the first level of support in the operational units.

“Vertex Company supporters work closely with pilots on the ground to ensure that helicopters are ready to fly when needed.
