Harness Builder for E3.series 2022 introduces enhancements to accelerate smart adoption adoption, improve wiring harness costs and estimates, and connect to leading third-party testing and manufacturing solutions. New cost and weight estimation options significantly improve pre-engineering quality.

Combined with work assistant wizard updates and powerful dash number configuration, the new features eliminate production and installation costs. In the 2022 edition, partner integrations are expanding into new areas. At the same time, the publication further develops existing technology partnerships to provide a complete design and manufacturing solution. Advanced options for testing and manufacturing wiring harnesses cover most leading automated solutions.

“We have made significant strides in this version towards the goal of introducing intelligent production. Harness Builder 2022 will improve our customers’ productivity through better automation, improved weight and cost estimates and more third-party manufacturing solutions, ”said Paul Harwell, Product Director of E3.series.

“Engineering savings are huge with Harness Builder; conservative estimate is somewhere between 25 to 50%. The savings from production are great, about three times more than engineering. I would say that Harness Builder for E3.series is a smart manufacturing tool, not just an engineering tool. Brian Nash, Director of Engineering ArcFlo.

Wiring harness weight estimator
Harness Builder for E3.series introduces the all-new Wire Harness Weight Estimator to enable wiring harness engineers to track harness weight throughout the design cycle. There are many factors that affect the weight of the wiring harness. The assessor takes into account the weight of the wires, pipes, cable protection and all components of the bundle in the cardboard drawing. Estimates include the weight of connector pins, coatings, seas, and other accessories to ensure the most accurate estimate. The wiring harness weight estimator includes many units of measure for working with a wide range of component types and designs.

Built-in tool for viewing data sheets
Harness Builder for E3.series simplifies access to datasheets with a smart built-in viewer. Datasheets are often the main source of accurate information about components in wiring harness design. Cable bundle engineers are constantly switching between their design application, websites, PDF viewers, and other resources to access information to help them with design. For example, the documentation for a simple connector includes a variety of housing data sheets, pins, boots, connector tools, and accessories. When selecting an item from the dashboard drawing, the Datasheet Viewer displays information about all subparts of the selected component. The easy-to-use multi-tab visualizer helps cable bundle designers reduce the cost of opening and tracking multiple datasheets.

Improved tool for quoting wiring harnesses
The wiring harness citation tool is a key advantage of the Harness Builder solution for E3.series. The citation tool is driven by logical connectivity, components, and physical layout, and helps cable bundle manufacturers estimate the burden of producing a wiring harness. The latest enhancements to the citation tool provide a special screen and dialog to better visualize the offer. Estimates are also more accurate with various improvements over time for multiple tasks. In addition, the list of long leading items helps designers identify critical components to order early and avoid supply chain delays.

Status report
Cutting and installing pipes, coatings and other materials for cable protection is a mandatory task in the process of assembling the cable bundle. Designers often measure and create a cutting list to move on to production; the process can be time consuming and error prone. Harness Builder for E3.series now automatically produces a configurable list for cutting looms from cardboard drawings. Configuration options allow reports to display relevant information and manage the report template.

Automated wire processing machines
Intelligent production is the key to achieving efficiency and reducing time without losing product quality. Manual wire processing has a lot of overhead, and the intelligent design, combined with the latest automated wire processing machines, has the potential to reduce overhead wiring costs by more than 50%. The latest updates help to further simplify automatic wire processing with new features and support for leading wire cutting, marking and stripping machines.

Harness Builder for E3.series 2022 is now available in North America.
