Black mirrorseries that ominously foreshadowed our current technological dystopia will return in 2025 for a seventh season, Netflix revealed on its UK Next event. The six-episode series will feature a continuation of one of the most beloved episodes, the darkly funny parody of Star Trek USS Callister.

Details are tight, with the Netflix teaser only teasing the 2025 date and the sequel episode. “Robert Daly is dead, but for the crew of the USS Callister, their troubles are just beginning,” the description reads. The original Season 4 episode (2017) stars Jesse Plemons and Kristin Miliotti, along with the voice of Aaron Paul and an uncredited cameo by Kristen Dunst. This episode won multiple Emmys, including one for Outstanding Television Movie.

Black Mirror debuted in the UK in 2011 with intermittent hiatus including this year. It was created by Charlie Brooker and executive produced by Annabelle Jones.

Its final season, in 2023, featured five episodes and several pranks like Lough Henry and Joan is terrible. The latter takes streaming services to their logical, dark conclusion (think The Truman Show meets OpenAI meets Netflix) — and we expect similar themes in the upcoming season.
