We’re barely getting used to the iPhone 14 being out in the wild, but rumors are already swirling about what Apple might do with its successor — and a new iPhone 15 report suggests the Pro models will get 8GB of RAM and a periscope camera.
This comes from industry analysts at Trendforce (opens in new tab) (via SamMobile (opens in new tab)), which have a reasonable track record when it comes to predicting what Apple’s hardware division will produce. Apparently, “chances are high” for an 8GB RAM increase in the Pro and Pro Max, and improvements in camera technology specifically for the Pro Max.
The current iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max models have 6GB of RAM installed, although that’s not traditionally something Apple talks about much (RAM isn’t listed on the iPhone’s tech specs page on Apple’s website, for example).
Periscope above
The periscope camera rumor is interesting: it’s a camera design we’ve seen on Android phones (including the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra) where, thanks to some mirror tricks, the camera extends down the length of the phone, allowing more room for zoom lenses.
It’s something we’ve been hearing could come to the iPhone for a few years now, and if it does indeed arrive with the iPhone 15 Pro Max, expect the current model’s 3x optical zoom to get a significant boost — assuming Apple can find enough room in the device. , to fit the camera mechanisms.
The same research note also mentions that the Pro and Pro Max models have a faster processor than the standard iPhone 15 phones: this is something Apple did this year and is expected to do next year.

iPhones tend to lag behind their Android rivals when it comes to the amount of RAM they pack – the Samsung Galaxy S22 already reached 8GB, for example – and this may be one reason why Apple doesn’t refer to the specs when releasing new ones. phones or even advertises them on its own website.
