Leaked images of iPhone 16 series reveal display dimensions, camera alignment

The iPhone 16 series may witness major changes when it comes to display design and dimensions. According to a new leak, the Pro models – iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max – may get larger displays, while the non-Pro models – iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus – may have a new camera alignment. These changes, if true, would break Apple’s three-year streak of introducing a consistent design and display for its smartphones. Notably, the iPhone 16 series is also expected to get capacitive buttons this year.

Councilor Sonny Dixon shared an image on X (formerly known as Twitter) showing the new design and display dimensions. According to the images, the iPhone 16 Pro may get a 6.3-inch display as opposed to the iPhone 15 Pro’s 6.1-inch display. Similarly, the iPhone 16 Pro Max is tipped to sport a 6.9-inch display compared to its predecessor’s 6.7-inch display. The vanilla iPhone 16 is said to retain its 6.1-inch display, while the iPhone 16 Plus will get the same 6.7-inch display as its predecessor.

The display size upgrade, if true, will make some users happy, but fans of smaller phones may be disappointed with the development. But display size isn’t the only change revealed by the wizard. The camera alignment for the non-Pro models has also undergone a change.

Instead of a diagonally aligned camera module like the iPhone 13, iPhone 14 and iPhone 15, the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus may have a vertically aligned camera module similar to the iPhone 11 and iPhone 12. However, there is another change that sets it apart from any other iPhone model . The LED flash looks out of the unit.

The vertically aligned camera alignment is rumored to add spatial video recording capabilities to non-Pro iPhone 16 models. While not much is known, some other features of Apple’s next-generation iPhone have surfaced online. According to a report, the iPhone 16 series may get capacitive buttons that will replace the physical power button and volume buttons. They were originally supposed to arrive in the iPhone 15 series, but were later said to have been scrapped. The action button, which is currently only available on Pro models, is also expected to be present on all iPhone 16 models.
