on Amazon is a reader you can take with you anywhere, thanks to its glare-free display and water-resistant construction, and it’s currently the best price we’ve seen this year so far. The 16GB Kindle Paperwhite with lock screen ads, normally $150, is down to $130 in an Amazon deal. It’s not an all-time low, but it’s the cheapest e-reader since Black Friday. If you prefer not to see ads on the lock screen, the ad-free version is also $20 off, at $150 compared to the usual price of $170.

The discount is on the latest version of the Kindle Paperwhite and applies to three color options: black, agave green and denim. The Paperwhite is nicely sized for readability and fits comfortably in your hand, with a 6.8-inch display. The backlight is adjustable and can be switched from a bright white light to a warm, amber light that is easier on the eyes. With a 300 ppi anti-glare display, words should be crisp and clear on the screen and easy to read even if you’re sitting in the sun.

Amazon says this Kindle Paperwhite model can last up to 10 weeks on a charge, but that will certainly depend on how heavily you use the device. It has a USB-C port for charging. The Paperwhite is also suitable for poolside use with an IPX8 water resistance rating. Not only is it splash-proof, but it should be able to withstand immersion in fresh water, within reasonable limits. Amazon says it’s protected for up to an hour in fresh water up to 2 meters deep. However, this is slightly different for seawater and is only rated to withstand submersion for 3 minutes at .25 meters.

If audiobooks are more your mood, the Kindle Paperwhite supports that format as well and pairs with Bluetooth headphones or speakers. It doesn’t have built-in speakers or an audio jack, so you’ll need an external listening device.
