Entries are now open for the thirty-fifth anniversary edition of the prestigious British Frozen Food Awards.

Since 1988, the British Frozen Foods Federation’s awards have recognized the most innovative, advanced and great tasting products in both the retail and catering industries.

Rupert Ashby, Chief Executive of the BFFF, said: “The main aim of the awards is to showcase the quality and innovation of frozen food to consumers and chefs, together with praising frozen food pioneers. The quality of entries gets better every year and our expert judges will no doubt be impressed by the standard of innovation in 2023.”

Bronze, silver and gold honors will be awarded in 11 retail and nine foodservice categories. The awards cover sweet, savory and non-frozen foods with recognized baked goods, side dishes and main meal components. All Gold winners will be in the running to receive the top award of Best Retail Product or Best Foodservice Product.

Aldi scooped the prestigious 2022 Meat Retail Core Award for its Specially Selected 4 Quarters Cheese and Onion, while Northcoast Seafoods picked up the Best Fish Retail Core Award for their Wild Red Prawns.

Rupert added: “Respected in the food industry, the BFFF Awards stand for product excellence and winners are invited to publish their achievements as an endorsement of quality.”

The Retail Awards are unique in that winners are judged by panels of independent consumers from across the UK who mark products blindly for appearance, taste and aroma before moving on to assess them for innovation, packaging, instructions for use preparation, likelihood of purchase and value for money.

The Food Service Awards are rigorously judged by impartial members of the prestigious Craft Guild of Chefs.

Guild member Lee Tynan, director of food development at Creative Foods, was a judge for the 2022 awards and said: “The awards showcase the wide range of innovation happening in the frozen food industry. The judging process is tough and uncompromising, so the standard for winning nutrition products is very high.”

The winners will be announced at the BFFF Annual Gala Dinner on Thursday 15 June 2023 at The Brewery, London. The awards are open to BFFB members to enter online. Businesses that are not yet members can register before logging in.
