Developers supporting the Shiba Inu ecosystem are implementing a new layer of security to improve network privacy settings. The Shiba Inu team is developing this security protocol in partnership with Zama, a cryptographic company that confirmed the development of X this week. The name of this security protocol being developed remains unknown for now. However, it is known that the protocol will use a tool called Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE) – through which developers can unlock data in untrusted domains without having to decrypt or commit to it.
The Shiba Inu ecosystem is supported on the Layer-2 Shiberium blockchain, which is built on top of the Ethereum blockchain. Once Shiba Inu releases its security protocol, it will find a place on the Shiberium blockchain. TREAT, a crypto token that is part of the Shiba Inu ecosystem, will support the use of this security protocol.
Shiba Inu token holders will get better safety for their personal and transaction data, a Coindesk report he said without elaborating.
The integration of this encryption tool into the Shiba Inu protocol seemingly puts user protection in the spotlight. This move could signal other Tier 2 blockchains to also adopt similar methods and protect their respective networks and communities.
In January 2023, SHIB emerged as the only ERC-20 token cryptocurrency that appeared most frequently in Ethereum main chain transactions. Nansen data from the time also shows that Shiba Inu has emerged as the top choice for new entrants to start crypto investing with. With their community showing incremental growth, the Shiba Inu team is undertaking a number of community-first initiatives.
In December 2023, for example, the SHIB team applied to the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) to acquire the “.shib” domain, which, if approved, would allow members of its community to create email addresses with ” .shib’ ‘ suffix. This would eliminate the need for the community to create long, alphanumeric crypto wallet addresses to manage assets on different blockchains.
